St Lawrence Church

Known locally as the Black and White Church, St Lawrence church in Denton, Tameside is a timber framed building which dates back to 1531, and further extended in 1872 - over 500 years old and still going strong. Another local name is Th'owd Peg, because of the wooden pegs used to join the timbers.

Only 29 of this type of common medieval building remain in England and Wales.
